Andy and I have entered our club, Swing Springfield, into the St. Pat's Parade. We invite any and all to join us to walk along, dance along or ride along with us. We will have a jeep and sound system (generously donated by Terry) and a trailer (also Terry), that we plan to decorate with some plywood dancers and other St. Pat's paraphernalia, including banners that Jennifer is doing some creative work for...
The date of the parade is March 15. Parade begins forming at 12, begins at 2 and ends at 4.
We still need to check on parade rules and regulations, but we plan to bring along candy and flyers to promote our swing club.
This parade tends to stop and start a lot, so we hope to have lots of time to dance in the street and show the parade peeps what we're all about!!
We have green fedoras on the way, that you can purchase for $5 each. And we'd like it if you could wear black pants and green top or jacket. But this, by no means, is a requirement.
If you have anything you want to contribute... let us know!!
Thanks!!

We have decorations lined out for our 'float.' Hats and beads for all who want to come dance with us in the parade. Now we just need dancers!!
Oh, and we can park the trailer in a warehouse at my office on Friday night to decorate, then move it to the parade gathering place, which isn't far from there. Shouldn't take long to decorate either. We're trying to keep it simple.
If you have questions or need more information on this event, post or email.
This will be GREAT exposure for our dance club AND lots of fun!! Whether you are a member of the club or not, please join us!! _________________ Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?

I have a number of volunteers who want to help paint our swing couple that DB is making for us! Thanks to all for that!!
Depending on when it is finished, I'm thinking that we can all get together and paint on March 8 or 9.
We've not decided exactly how to organize this, but we think that we'll ask everyone to bring a small can of outdoor paint in a designated color and a brush or two.
I'm leaning toward some bright primary colors. We'll need some lettering done, so anybody who is good at that, consider yourself hired.
Not sure yet where we're going to do this, but we're leaning towards my office, which is where we'll decorate the trailer. The weather will be a big factor, am hoping it will be nice enough to paint outside....
Ideas are welcome...

I will begin this tonight but I doubt I will get it done until Sunday, Something about dances here and there, people to see, places to go this weekend cutting into my shop time.
Anyhoo's it will ready by the weekend suggested. One thing we might consider is a coat of primer. Since it is made of wood it might be more economical to use some cheap primer to get into the grain so it takes the regular paint better. I can do that if you desire so there is no time wasted waiting for paint to dry..........of course in redneck vanacular this "accepted beer guzzling time" |

Primer is probably a good idea. How much do it cost? Andy and I might be able to find time to come down and help primer either this weekend, if it's done... or perhaps next week. How long does it need to dry? _________________ Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?

A gallon of off white or light gray primer is only a few dollars. I really guess two coats would be required. The first coat will dry very quickly as the wood will soak it up like a sponge. The second coat will take a little longer but not more than a couple hours or so depending on heat and humidity.
I would like to get it painted before Monday as the temps are suppose to plummet Monday night which will stop me from doing any painting in my garage. Its heated a little but not enough to paint in.
If not we can always give it a coat later in the week in your warehouse. |

We will plan to paint the swing couple that DB is making this Sunday, March 9. I'm thinking something like 2 or so. The time might change depending on other peoples schedules. We'll be painting at my office which is at 610 N. Jefferson. Parking lot or indoors, depending on the weather. Not sure what to ask for in paint, so please post ideas on how you think it should be painted. The simpler, the better. Any one who wants to help, as I know time is a factor for all and I don't want to eat too much into your Sunday. Please let me know here if you want to help, so we can have an idea of who all will be here.
Thanks!

Preliminary forecast is for mostly sunny and 50(ish) degrees Sunday. I will bring the silouette over then! I will also try to post a photo of it before then so anyone can see it and develop painting schemes or ideas before hand. It will be basically the photo Anne has with a base and maybe a arch overhead.
See ya'll tonight

Hey DB... how did the project go this weekend? I'm sure they look fabulous! If the weather just doesn't cooperate this weekend, I think we'll be able to paint them inside my shop. Am hoping for good weather this weekend and even better next!
Were you able to figure out the stand part pretty easily?
Also, how did the wall/closet go? _________________ Will you, won't you, will you, won't you, will you join the dance?
